  CHAPTER 2:

  Watchers and Apotheosis in Luciferianism

The Watchers and Nephilim: High Luciferian Magick and Demonic Sorcery

The advantage of the modern Luciferian ‘tradition’ is the protean and ever-evolving lore and teachings derived from our knowledge of ancient magical practices, religious ceremony and mythology of the pantheons of the Ancient Near East, Persian, Greco-Roman, Norse, Celtic and Medieval Demonology (Black Witchcraft). In my grimoires and publications, intense and disciplined effort was made to provide the historical and mythological foundations of the ancient pantheons, cosmology and magical practices we have archeological and etymological knowledge of.

My Daemon (Azal’ucel) has inspired, guided and nagged me towards evolving nearly forgotten practices, meanings and building a bridge between the former and our modern age of practices. During my search for the knowledge of what I was dedicated to gather from history and forgotten practices, with flawless and assuring synchronicity (often a good indicator that you are living according to your True Will) so much research was presented because of obsessive trail-following from obscure Academic publications.

During my early initiatory years in the 1990’s Aleister Crowley’s Thelema provided an excellent foundation for understanding the goal of the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. This inspired my earliest attainment of Azal’ucel (then a mere violent flash of fire in my mind compared to what would come) while adapting “The Bornless One” or “The Headless One” ceremony I slowly trusted my instincts and proceeded to adapt towards the Luciferian Current which had opened to me.

The 2000’s lead me to a much deeper understanding of the Daemon/Daimon in the Hellenistic period and the later GrecoRoman magical traditions. One of the most interesting is the connection between Hellenistic Macedonian Kingdoms (the Successors or Diadochi) beginning with the Egyptian Cult of the Agathodaimon. The “Good Daemon” is a beneficial, guiding Spirit associated among others, with Alexander the Great.

Many years of applying research, patterns of syncretic and assimilated Deific Masks and instinctual application of sorcerous practices made manifest those Gateways of Luciferian Power, namely my books of “Spirits” such as “Dragon of the Two Flames”, “Sebitti”, “Necrominon”, “Drauga” to demonological mirrors presented in “Grand Grimoire of Infernal Pacts”, “Adversarial Light” and “Sekhem Apep”.

This began with years of finding the path which was inherent in numerous Left-Hand Path, Right-Hand Path, Zos Kia Cultus, Chaos Magic, Traditional Witchcraft, Typhonian, Thelemic, Neo-Pagan, Hebrew Kabbalah/Qlippothic, Vampyric, Bon-Po/Tibetan, Tantric, Neo-Platonic, Voodoo/Palo Mayombe and Satanic Magick traditions. I could formulate the envisioned ‘Balance’ of what is known as High and Low Magick in a general evolution of the basics of Anton LaVey’s Satanism and Aleister Crowley’s Thelema. Luciferianism came into being from the struggle and challenges I overcame through intermediate Conversation and Illumination of my True Will, the Daemon Azal’ucel. The assumption of the magical name of AKHTYA consecrated this obsessive drive against the majority who advised me not to proceed and then attempted to destroy my work by all the means of their disposal.

Kenneth Grant provided valuable and difficult mentorship in the late 1990’s when I was a solitary initiate of the Zos Kia Cultus, my “Book of the Witch Moon” was the first glimpse of what I was unconsciously (then) working towards; when Chaos Magick pioneer and author Peter J. Carroll so graciously presented me with a handwritten introduction for the book, I was struck metaphorically with the Fulgur Summanum (Nocturnal Lightning Bolt)6 of conscious realization towards what would become a collective series of black magickial workings, opening the Adversarial Path and being published as the rather crude “Luciferian Witchcraft” in 2005.

“The Bible of the Adversary” crystalized the medieval lore and rituals of the basis of Luciferian Magick and during an additional Abyssic Working in which I emerged instinctually aware of my daunting task before me. Today, in 2017 I have accomplished the foundation and pillars for Luciferian initiation centered on Liberation, Illumination and Apotheosis from which my forthcoming publications will expand and build from.

Greco-Roman Traditions: The Example of The Greek Magical Papyri

Luciferian Magick has the wealth of knowledge surviving the attempt of destroying magical books beginning with early Christians (Ephesus in the Acts of the Apostles), history reveals the futile attempts to oppress free thinking and the power derived from traditions symbolically passed down from the Watchers and gods of old. No matter if Judeo-Christian rhetoric claims peace and understanding, they do so with one foot upon a grave-mound of separate traditions who don’t acknowledge and submit to the restriction and ignorance of monotheism.

The Greek Magical Papyri provides insight and evidence of the theory that the energies contained in the Deific Masks may be accessed and harnessed for individual use by the vibrations of sound and trance with the uttering of “Voces magicae”. The use of powerful sounds in ceremonial ritual a process of explosive creativity in a type of theogonia, giving birth or creating new gods combined from syncretic names and symbolism in an early form of ‘Chaos Magic’. The Voces magicae utilized a method of calling and encircling divine powers from powerful magical words. Names of new gods and demons were amalgamated with existing ones which allowed a varied type of an energy to be invoked.

6 See Baraqiel for the definition of this term within the context presented. The use of Names of Power, energized with the Will, Desire, Belief “vision” in ritual practice commands and directs such energy to manifest.

In the ancient world, religion and magic had little separation and would not be categorized until the Imperial Roman and Medieval Christian periods. Religion and magical traditions were given new Deific Masks of power via syncretism. In the Greek Magical Papyri, we find Hecate as identical to Persephone, Artemis, Selene and even the Babylonian goddess Ereskigal. Thoth-Hermes, Helios-Apollo, Set-Typhon and a wide collection of syncretic Deific Masks invoked with powerful Voces magicae with origins in Jewish, Greek and other scripts to bring forth new methods of sorcery.

Many through the ages have attempted to destroy magical knowledge: in the year 13 BC Augustus had 2,000 magical scrolls burnt (any imagined threat to Imperial Power was taken seriously), the burning of books in Ephesus as described in Acts 19:10 are but a few examples. Yet, for all their effort, the forbidden knowledge of the Watchers lives on and continues to grow.

  Apotheosis as Mythological Narrative

The Black Alchemy of Spirit and Flesh The Book of Enoch is a myth of Jewish origins, reflecting earlier (ancient) traditions from not only Hurrian, Hittite, Mesopotamian and Greek lore and myth. For the Black Adept, I will demonstrate some common associations and themes which should be understood in your self-determined path towards becoming and Apotheosis.

The perspective of the myth and practical symbolism of our tradition is described as a balance between historical and mythological associations. In the time of the Watchers depiction in the Book of Enoch, there were conf
licts of interactions between cultures: different authorities had opposing religious and values of a political nature. The Watchers are basically allegories of foreign rulers, Hellenistic and Greco-Roman conquerors, who were professed to be the offspring of the gods, such as the Ptolemies and Seleucids.

Some aristocratic priests, holding authority in Judea, were viewed by common people to have married women who represented foreign values which in turn made these figures to be impure. Not only was the Book of Enoch composed around the time of Antiochos IV (175-164 BCE) but also the Book of Daniel. The crisis of the Judean people was reflected in the symbolism of the “Little Horn” which is upon a chaos-beast rising from the sea. This “Little Horn” was Antiochos IV, who introduced Hellenistic religious practice and culture more intensely due to Jewish High Priests offering to Hellenize Judea.

Hellenistic religious practices, magic and the “Ruler Cult” is a major forebear of modern Luciferianism thus the symbolism of what is considered “Satanic” powers is for the Adversarial Adepts, a beautiful and strong representation of the ancient ideals which elevated humanity.

The Watchers are paralleled in the myth of Anu (Heavens, Sky) copulating with Ki (Earth) to produce the Seven Udug-Hul or Evil Rebel Gods and Lamastu in Mesopotamian (Akkadian, NeoAssyrian, Babylonian) myth. In the Hittite and Hurrian myths of Kumarbi describe the rebellion against the King of Heaven, Tesub, descending from his high abode.

Kumarbi copulates and impregnates an earthly female stone or rock, a diorite giant monster, Ullikummi is the offspring of the union, who then causes chaos and devastation in heaven and earth. In an earlier Hurrian myth, Illuyanka the Dragon defeats the storm god Tesub. The offspring of the Dragon then came up with Illuyanka and ate and drank from the earth. The storm god Tesub then defeated the Dragon and restored himself to the rule of the heavens.

In Late Bronze Age Ugarit, the Hurrian associations survive in the cycle of this mythic pattern of this Canaanite cultural legend of Ashtar the Rebel. Ashtar the Rebel goes up to the heights of Mount Zaphon, sitting upon the throne of Aliyan Baal Hadad (who is in Hell, devoured by Mot). Ashtar could not properly fill the throne, proclaiming he would not rule the heavens as Baal and came down to reign over the whole of the vast Earth7.

As explored in “Dragon of the Two Flames”, the origin of the modern archetype of Lucifer is found in the Epithet of 'Ngh w Srr', 'The Shining One/Venus the Rebel' which is 'Ashtar'. In the later Isaiah myth in the Old Testament, this tale is told with the Luciferian name ‘Helel ben Sahar’ as a Prince of Tyre.

This is the basis of Black Alchemy (self-transformation, Apotheosis) in the following:

7 Rebellion in Heaven, Azazel, and Euhemeristic Heroes in 1 Enoch 6-11 The fiery Watchers of the Heavens join in union with the Daughters of Men, spirit and flesh. The uninitiated are of mere clay or earth, while the offspring of this union are Nephilim or Giants whose spirits leave their bodies and haunt the earth after physical death. The Luciferian seeks to become “like” the Nephilim, balanced in spirit and flesh, giant as in strong of mind and character, spirit can leave body (astral projection, vampirism).

Luciferians utilize forbidden knowledge to master their world, commanding the path of their own unique destiny which is changeable. The Daemon of the Black Adept is the guide and personal god representing potential in self-excellence, devoid of ‘conscious’ personality (likes and dislikes), instinctually directing logical and reasonable goals of the Luciferian.

Let us explore the myth and associations of this path.

  The Descent of The Watchers

The Book of Enoch provides an excellent foundation for the approach and understanding of Luciferianism as a philosophy: The Watchers bring knowledge and potential, this alone is celebrated among Left-Hand Path initiates.

In the days before the rise of the Cult of Yahweh, the ancient world was ever changing. The earth evolved and the balance of predator and prey was shaped and fashioned in a beautiful conflict present in nature. The daughters of men, fair and inspiring lust in the Watchers, these gods of the empyrean and fiery realm of air to take notice.

The Watchers as they are called, have origins in the Hebrew root ‘er, ‘awake, watchful’ indicating the divine fire of which they bestow unto the Daughters of Cain and the Nephilim. For those of the Luciferian Path, myths and lore are made individual and within the beginning and end of the initiate. We find a parallel and influence of the Watcher descent from the older Mesopotamian lore of the Seven Sages.

The apkallu (Wise Ones, Sages) were seven sages sent by Ea from the Apsu to teach the arts of civilization to humanity prior to the Flood. The parallel with the Watchers is clear: the apkallu were skilled craftsmen who instructed man on the arts, social structure and the invention of walled cities. Ea later banished them back to the oceanic abyssic Apsu. Seleucid period Babylonian scribe Berossos recorded this myth in his works. The names of the Seven Sages are known: U-an, better recognized as Oannes, U-an-duga, En-me-duga, En-me-galama, En-me-buluga, An-Enlilda and Utu-abzu. Other epithets are known of the Seven Sages and each is paired with an antediluvian king. The sages came forth from the Apsu depicted as fish-men or with the Underworld features of a bird.

Yahweh called also Jehovah commands obedience and the bending of knees, ignorance is a bliss granted to those who divide to rule: humans are flawed, obey and have blind faith. Yahweh did not create the heavens and earth; he is one of many whose talent for leading sheep surpassed the older gods. Forbidden knowledge was any insight or instruction which sparked consciousness and selfawareness; knowing good and evil, how to create and destroy. Yahweh is a jealous god; his cult of sheep and blind-fanatics reduce the other gods and name them “evil”.

The Sons of Heaven spoke unto one another: ‘Come, let us descend like the ancient Seraph did long ago and choose for ourselves, wives from the children of men, let us beget children’. Their powers were great and like in ancient Mesopotamia, the Union of the Heavens and the Earth begets Demigods who are as Giants within this world. The ancient Seraph is from other traditions, Samael (who begot Cain with Eve).

The leaders, Azazel and Semyaza (Shemihazah) found strength and joy in bringing the Adversarial Current into the world in different ways, challenging and motivating conflict and power in many ways. The Watchers answered Azazel and Semyaza, ‘Let us all swear an oath, to carry knowledge and our power into this material world’. Two hundred Watchers descended on Ardis, the summit of Mount Hermon. This mountain is called “cursed” by the Hebrew and Christian cults of ignorance who hate the old religions and lore of sorcery which is founded on balance within nature. So then, let it be cursed, let us be children of darkness!

For the majesty of the gifts so given by the knowledge of the Watchers was our liberation from the sheep masses of humanity. The Watchers used a balance of union with Spirit and Flesh, introducing Disorder and Chaos to inspire, entertain and motivate the evolution of man and woman. In the predatory blood sports of war to the peaceful calm of the wilderness is beauty found: it is in the heightened moments of strife, life and death swirling in the abyssic chaos emanating from the Acasual/Anti-Cosmic seeking to devour the Casual/Cosmic Order of this world. Seek balance in all things and by paths most fear to understand and accept.

Like the Macedonian and Greek Gods and their syncretic cults later established, Mount Hermon was a sacred place and at the summit was a gathering place of gods! The god Pan and numerous daimons including Satyrs would bless the waters of Jordan, becoming patrons of the springs and cool waters. Caves became sacred places to Pan and Baal Hermon was honored as the regions’ Zeus Olympios.

As the Watchers descended, Azazel and Semyaza first assumed a divine epiphany (manifestation), a deified form taller than most men, strong and having a terrible radiance of fiery light. The two hundred Watchers so took form as well to go among the daughters of man. They would first instill bodies of knowledge unto humanity and offer them self-liberation, awareness and divine potential in this world.

In Enoch 19. I the spirits of the angels assume many forms to bring knowledge and power to man and woman, including the Magickial Arte of sacrifice incense, libations and hymns to demons as gods.

In Luciferian lore, myths and legends are presented as ciphers and instruction for knowledge and symbolic interpretation. The Angelic Cultus of the Watchers is a foundational symbol for the Luciferian Spirit.

Secrets Within the Names of the Watchers

The Name (or Word) of Power announces intent and purpose when uttered in the practice of sorcery. This is evident to the most mundane levels of humanity and within every culture and language. Luciferians understand that every focused thought and willed act is one of magick and sorcery. Titles of office within society automatically invoke a response in the individual: police officer, senator, chef, mechanic, prostitute, priest, father, mother, manager, doctor, etc. Each no matter how mundane holds an association and response designed within the word itself and our understanding (even unconsciously) from it. Some invoke a response of fear, admiration, respect or a specific desire associated with it. Within Luciferian Sorcery (to encircle or command) this is the same.

A key to the Black Arts is to understand the mysteries within the name itself. In the “Ethiopic Book of Enoch8” a close study and translation of many of the names of the Watchers are given and by their definition associations are defined further. The Watchers hold specific streams of initiatic knowledge and power when understood and invoked in sorcerous practice.
